Wilfredo Rivera was a two-sport student-athlete at Hiram, earning four letters in both baseball and football. Rivera was a four-time All-PAC honoree in baseball, earning First Team recognition in 1977 and 1978. He hit a team best .348 and .367 in 1977 and 1978, respectively. Rivera also hit the “legendary” home run against Case Western Reserve that is still talked about today. In addition, Rivera was also an All-PAC selection in football.
Following his graduation in 1980, Rivera relocated to Las Vegas and became a part of his family owned restaurant business. After serving as the Vice President of Operations for the Gunther Restaurant Group, he began his career as a teacher in the Clark County School District in Nevada, where he has been employed for the past 23 years. As of his induction, he was the head men’s soccer coach and assistant baseball coach. In 2014, he helped lead Clark County to a state championship.
