Brown was an outstanding player throughout his career on the Hiram tennis team, winning four varsity letters and twice was selected as Team Captain and Team MVP. Hiram joined the PAC prior to Brown’s senior season in 1972, and he made the most of his one opportunity, winning the No. 1 Singles Championship and teaming with Terry Hartle to win the #1 Doubles Championship. He represented the PAC in both events in the NCAA National Tournament later that year. His four-year record was an outstanding 36-8 in singles competition, and 29-6 in doubles matches. Prior to Hiram joining the PAC, he consistently placed in annual OAC Tennis Tournament.

Brown was also the captain of the soccer team in 1971 and 1972. He is the Hiram College all time leader in soccer assists. In 1972, David received the Campbell Award and in the same year was also the captain of the tennis team. Also during his tenure at Hiram, he was involved in Pi Gamma Mu and Theta Phi Kappa.

As of his induction, David was active as the Director of Development and Public Affairs at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School.
