Reid was an outstanding performer for the Terriers' cross country and track squads from 1971 to 1974. A three-time All-President's Athletic Conference selection in track, Reid was crowned a PAC Champion in the 880-yard dash when he set conference and school records with a time of 1:55.2. He also holds school records as a member of the 880-yard, 440-yard and long jump relay teams. His exploits enabled him to be selected as team most valuable player for the indoor and outdoor track teams in 1973.
At the time of his graduation, Rich held the Hiram school records in the 440, the 880, the long jump, and as a member of both the one mile and two mile relay teams. He was also an All-PAC performer on the cross country team.
Reid, as of his induction, taught Spanish at Pettisville High School. He also leads annual student study trips to Europe including a group of 30 high school juniors and seniors on a 10-day tour of Spain this year. An Elder and Youth Director in the First Presbyterian Church, Reid leads week-long church mission camps each summer. He is a recipient of the Eagle Award from the Zeller Corporation and the Service to Youth Award from the YMCA for is community involvement.
