Known mainly as a slick fielding shortstop, she also pitched when needed, and recorded 13 wins on the mound during her Hiram career. Haynam was also a First-Team All-PAC performer in basketball, and was the PAC Player of the Year and an All-American honoree in field hockey. In addition, Haynam earned All-American honors in field hockey and All-Region accolades in softball during her career. She finished her Hiram career with a total of 12 varsity letters and received the Petroskey Award in 1988 as Hiram’s Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

Haynam has been coaching since graduation, and returned to her alma mater to head the women's basketball team from 1999-2004.
