William H. Hollinger Hall of Fame
Hanes established for himself the respect and admiration of his fellow students, faculty and alumni while enrolled at Hiram College.
A graduate of the class of 1963, Jimmie participated in football, indoor and outdoor track.
He distinguished himself by setting Hiram College records in both the low and high hurdles, which still stood upon his induction. He was selected by his teammates as their Most Valuable Player two years in succession and served two years as captain of the track team. Jimmie won the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship in the low and high hurdles in the same year.
As of his induction, Hanes was a Captain in the United States Air Force stationed in California, and continued to distinguish himself, having received recognition for numerous achievements in the Air Force.
