Cmaylo was a versatile athlete who was known for his speed and quickness. He was captain of the basketball and tennis teams his senior year. In 1937, his senior season, Cmaylo received honorable mention on the Associated Press All-Ohio basketball team.
A versatile athlete, he used his natural speed and quickness to make up for his lack of height and weight.
After his graduation, while teaching in the Cleveland City School system, he was for several years, the men's singles tennis champion of the city of Cleveland. Upon his induction, Cmaylo lived in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. with his family.
