Robert “Bob” Kujala was a four-year member of the Hiram track and field team. He competed primarily in the field events and had a successful career in the shot put and discus. In the shot put, he was a four-time All-Conference award winner, two-time conference champion (1994-95) and two-time NCAA National Qualifier (1994-95) during the indoor season.
In the spring, he was a four-time All-Conference winner, two-time national qualifier (1994, 1996) and an All-American (1996). In addition, he earned All-Conference honors twice (1994, 1996) in the discus.
After graduation, Bob earned a teaching certificate in history and social studies and, as of his induction, has taught within the LaBrae School District since 2000 as a special education and U.S. history teacher. He also served as president of the LaBrae Teachers Association. Bob has also maintained his interest in sports as a throwing coach since 2000 and as a middle school football coach since 2006.
