Tim Tallbacka was a four-year letter winner for the men's basketball team from 1987-1991. Having played in two separate conferences during his time, Tallbacka earned honors from both the Presidents' Athletic and Ohio Athletic Conferences.
Playing in the PAC for the first two years of his Terrier career, Tallbacka earned all-conference laurels, twice, including second-team honors in 1989.
He earned honorable mention laurels following his freshman season in 1987-88, leading the Terriers with 13.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per night. He followed that with a career-high in both points (14.6) and rebounds (5.5) per night en route to his second-team status.
After Hiram moved to the Ohio Athletic Conference for the 89-90 campaign, Tallbacka was twice named Academic All-OAC. He averaged 9.2 points per night as a junior, shooting a career-high 47% from the field.
For his career, Tallbacka played in 99 total games, shooting .442 from the field and 73% from behind the charity stripe. He currently stands as one of Hiram's 26 1,000 point scorers, having amassed 1,020 throughout his career.
Following graduation in 1991, as of his induction, Tallbacka has spent the last 27 years as an educator, and 19 as a basketball coach in the Ashtabula, Brookfield and Conneaut school districts. As a coach, Tallbacka has earned multiple laurels. In 2000, he was named the Northeastern Conference and Ashtabula County, Coach of the Year. He earned the same laurels in 2003 while also being named the ACBF Coach of the Year.
