Julie (Paolano) Solis was an accomplished women’s basketball player as a student-athlete at Hiram. During her tenure, Solis was a four-year letter winner (1993-96) and served as a team captain for two seasons (1995-96).
She is currently the school record holder for most assists in a single game (14) and the single-season leader in minutes played (907). She also previously held the single-season record for assists (114) and career assists (317) that stood until recently. For her career, Solis averaged eight points per game and recorded three seasons with 100 or more assists.
Following graduation in 1996, Solis went on to pursue a career as a teacher and coach. She began her career in the Cloverleaf School District (1998-2004) and then moved on to teach and coach in the Solon City School District (2004-09).
Solis, as of her induction, coached and taught in the Twinsburg City School District. She has had a very successful coaching career including leading her team to two Division I State Championship appearances while at Twinsburg. She has also earned various local and state “Coach of the Year” accolades on numerous occasions including most recently being named the Tri-County and Associated Press “Coach of the Year” this past season in addition to being named a coach in the Tri-County All-Star Game. Her team also finished as the Div. I State Runner-Up.
