Kristin (Tassey) Berthiaume is the winningest head coach in Hiram softball program history, recording a 160-141 (67-51 NCAC) record over eight seasons at the helm, which included NCAC Tournament championships in 2009 and 2011. Kristin spearheaded Hiram to its first ever NCAA Tournament win over Adrian in 2009 before advancing the team to the NCAA Regional Final in 2011. Hiram outscored its opponents by a combined 12 runs in the first five games of that 2011 tournament, which included a 19-7 win over Trine and a 15-12 win over DePauw in nine innings.

Beyond the wins and deep playoff runs, Kristin also earned the prestigious NCAC Coach of the Year award in 2007, which marked her first season with the program. Hiram’s record improved from 10-27-1 in 2006 to 22-14 in 2007, placing the Terriers fourth in a talented NCAC field that year. In terms of her teams’ individual accolades, the Terriers featured their first All-American in 2010, when Whitney Dropsey landed NFCA Third-Team All-American Honors. Hiram had 12 All-Region selections under Kristin, as well as 11 All-NCAC First Team selections, 20 All-NCAC Second Team selections and 10 All-NCAC Honorable Mention selections.

Kristin currently lives in Kent, OH, where she has created a real estate team with her husband, Justin. The couple loves spending time with their two sons, Kellen (15) and Bryson (13). Kristin also enjoys golfing, playing pickleball and spending time outdoors with her family.
