William H. Hollinger Hall of Fame
Mason was a standout performer in the field events during his career at Hiram. A consistent point-winner in the shot put and discus events, his real specialty was the javelin, where he was crowned PAC Champion in both the 1987 and 1988 seasons. His throw of 190’8’’ in the 1987 championship meet still ranks as the all-time Hiram school record. A three-time Team Captain and Team MVP, Mason was also an All-PAC performer on the Hiram football team as a linebacker, and holds the school record for the longest interception return (93 yards) for a touchdown.
