William H. Hollinger Hall of Fame
Henning earned four varsity letters in wrestling from 1972-1975, a time when Hiram finished as the President's Athletic Conference runner-up
over four consecutive years. During his sophomore year in 1973, Bob was the PAC champion at 134 pounds. In 1972 he placed second in the conference at 118 pounds, and in 1974 and 1975, he again finished second at 134 pounds. Coach Brann has no doubt that Bob could have been a 3-time conference champion during his years at Hiram, but-as untimely coincidence would have it-the conference champion from John Carroll was also the NCAA champion at the time.
While at Hiram, Bob also played JV soccer, and was a member of the Alpha Society and Phi Beta Kappa. After earning his degree in General Science, Bob joined Lake High School in Milbury, OH and has continued there as a science teacher, Dean of Students, and occasional coach over the past 27 years.
Most recently, he has served as a teacher with Lake's Career Based Intervention Program, which helps at-risk students improve their academic competence and develop a career plan that guides their transition from school to work. As of his induction, Bob was also self-employed as the owner of Curtice Plumbing.
