Cooney was a major contributor for a Hiram softball program that won NCAC Tournament titles in 2009 and 2011 and advanced to the Regional Championship in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Her trophy case includes an NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) First-Team All-Region Selection, along with a pair of All-NCAC awards (First Team in 2011, Second Team in 2012). The North Coast Athletic Conference also named Cooney as a two-time NCAC Scholar-Athlete between those same 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Cooney is the greatest base-stealer in Terriers history, swiping a program-record 67 bases throughout her 157 games played. She also ranks ninth in career batting average (.354), fourth in hits (173) and second in runs scored (117). In the 2010-11 academic year, Cooney showcased her athleticism as a multi-sport athlete, logging one season with the women’s soccer program.

Since her graduation in 2012, Cooney has primarily worked in higher education as an athletic academic advisor at Division I schools, including Purdue, East Carolina and TCU. Her current roles include being a teacher’s aide and middle school athletic director in the St. John’s Lutheran School system, as well as a high school softball coach at Triad Local Schools.

Cooney enjoys spending time with her three nieces and nephew: Hailey, Addison, Maxwell and Mary. She also likes to be with her pets (five dogs and one cat), as well as attending church at One Church in Gahanna, Ohio.
