Dobran began his collegiate career at Wright State University before transferring to Hiram prior to the start of the 1997 season. While at Hiram, he was a two-time first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference award winner and was a two-time first-team NCAA Division III All-Mideast Region player (1997-98). In just two seasons with the Terriers, he set a combined four single-season and career records and is still currently the record holder in three of these categories. Dobran holds the school’s single-season record in hits (63) and doubles (15), both of which he set during the 1998 season. He is the program’s all-time leader with a batting average of .405. In addition, Dobran earned the NCAA Division III “Toughest to Strikeout” award as a senior in which he had 152 at-bats in 40 games and only struck out once.

Following graduation, Dobran went on to pursue a career in education and spent 11 years as a high school math teacher with four different schools, including James A. Garfield, Massillon Washington, Copley and Glen Oak. As of his induction, Dobras was an assistant principal at Alliance Middle School in Alliance, Ohio and lived in Canton, Ohio.
