William H. Hollinger Hall of Fame
Hurd played four years of basketball, two years of tennis and one year of baseball for the Terriers, and was a member of the Hiram College basketball team that won the gold medal at the 1904 Olympic Games held in St. Louis, Missouri. The team was selected to compete in the Olympics because of their status as one of the top collegiate teams in the state of Ohio. Hiram College is the only college in the country to receive a team Olympic gold medal.
