William H. Hollinger Hall of Fame
During his Hiram years, Michael Kernan was an instrumental member of the only football team in Hiram College history to make the conference playoffs. Among his many distinctions as a member of Terrier football, Michael was twice voted the most valuable player of the defensive squad, was a Pizza Hut All-American, and was an All-PAC selection each year he played. His athleticism also made him an important contributor to the Hiram rugby and intramural basketball teams.
As of his induction, Michael Kernan was the president and CEO of Kernan Insurance & Financial Services, Inc., the head coach of Ursuline High School’s district championship softball team and an active volunteer in his community. He also had an active insurance business and with eight agencies across Ohio. Michael and his family reside in Boardman, Ohio. He has one daughter, Chelsea.
