Gdanetz finished his Hiram career as one of the most decorated student-athletes in program history, becoming the only student-athlete to earn All-NCAC First Team honors in three different seasons upon completion of his final season in 2009. He was an OCSA (Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association) First Team All-Ohio selection in 2008 and a Third Team honoree in 2007 and 2009, while also earning USC (United Soccer Coaches) Second-Team All-Region in 2008. His contributions helped spearhead the Terriers to four straight winning seasons from 2006 to 2009 under head coach Carl Capellas, a span that featured a combined 43-23-7 record and a second-place finish in the NCAC in 2008.
Statistically, Gdanetz ranked fourth in game-winning goals (six), ninth in assists (15) and fourth in shots on goal (63) in the history of the Hiram men’s soccer program. In that special 2008 season alone, he had three game-winning goals, which was tied with Petar Knezevic for the team lead.
After his graduation from Hiram in 2010, Gdanetz joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in 2011, where he has served for the past 13 years. He has completed two overseas deployments to Poland (2019-20) and Kuwait (2022-23). He currently serves in full-time capacity with the PA Guard in an Active Guard Reserve position (S4, Logistics Officer, 1-112th Infantry Battalion).
In his free time, Gdanetz enjoys golfing and visiting the retired members of his unit.
