Hole was captain of the football team his senior year and from his end position on the defensive line very few plays got past him. Basketball, however, was Louis's best sport. From his forward position Louis won four letters in basketball and captained the
team his senior year.
After graduating from Hiram, he attended Columbia University, where he earned his master's degree.
A chemistry teacher at Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh, Pa., he continued his support of Hiram College by encouraging his students to enroll at his alma mater. He enjoyed retirement from 1958 until his death in 1974.
