William H. Hollinger Hall of Fame
Naehring was known for his accomplishments on the football field and baseball diamond. Being a lineman doesn't put one in the spotlight much, but those who ran the ball behind Naehring for four years were well aware of who paved the way for big gains and touchdowns. Also a defensive tackle. Naehring was a co-captain fas a junior and senior..
Also a four-year letter winner in baseball, his ability to hit the ball hard and often made him an ideal cleanup hitter. Defensively, he played outfield and pitched.
The intensity that was so much a part of Naehring's personality as a student and an athlete has also been instrumental in his success professionally. He was originally employed by Firestone and then Denman, and for the past 12 years as of his induction, by the Sears Roebuck Company.
His character is reflected in the fact that despite a busy schedule, he chaired the Cress Creek Community Blood Drive from 1976-83.
