Marshall was very active in athletics during her four years at Hiram College. She was involved in field hockey all four years, one year of track and field, and intramural softball. She was also a member of Phi Kappa Chi and H-Club.

Since her graduation from Hiram College, she has graduated from Ursuline College's School of Nursing magna cum laude, where she also was inducted into the nursing honor society Sigma Theta Tau. She worked as an R.N. in the open heart intensive care unit for four years at the
Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

As of her induction, Marshall was staying home to raise her five children, while simultaneously volunteering for fundraising for the Youth Ministry at St. Basil Catholic Church and for Walsh Jesuit High School. She is also a member of a committee at her church that provides meals to families in need.
