Brooks was a member of the football, indoor track, and outdoor track squads and found success in each endeavor.
As a member of the Terrier gridiron team, Art was selected as his team's most valuable player and captain while earning second team all-conference honors. In track, Art earned MVP honors in 1965 and finished second in the conference in the long jump.
His campus activities were many including time spent as president of the campus NAACP, a resident assistant in Bancroft House, and Founder of the Chagrin Falls Park tutorial project.
As of his induction, Art served as a counselor at Virginia Commonwealth University and as a consultant in multicultural education.
