Bruce Alexander was an incredibly successful multi-sport athlete with the football team (1997-98, 2000) and indoor/outdoor track & field teams (1998-2001), earning awards and setting program records for each. As a sprinter, he earned All-NCAC honors in the 400-meter dash during the 2001 outdoor season and currently holds the indoor program records in the 300-meter dash (37.39), 400-meter dash (51.85) and the anchor leg of the 4x400-meter relay (3:31.43). As a cornerback, he earned All-NCAC Honorable Mention at the conclusion of his senior season in 2000, which also saw him earn Defensive MVP of the team.
Â
Alexander served as a team captain for both football and track & field, and was the president of the rugby team in 2000 and 2001. Alexander’s most memorable experience at Hiram College came away from the playing field, when he participated in the study abroad program in Cambridge, England. He said the experience truly changed his outlook and perspective on life by experiencing different cultures.
