While at Hiram, Sheerin was a four-year letter winner in cross country and lettered in track and field three times. In cross country, he was named to the All-President's Athletic Conference team in 1984 and 1986 an and was named All-Ohio in 1985 and 1986. He was Hiram's most valuable runner in both the 1984 and 1986 seasons.
On the track he again received Most Valuable Runner (1985 and 1986), was a PAC conference champion in the 10,000 meter run, and set school records in the 10,000 and 5,000 meter races. Mark ranks third all-time in the Hiram record book with a time of 25:44 for the 8K. He was Team Captain and MVP two years. He was also a PAC Champion in Track & Field.
Since graduating from Hiram, Sheerin received his master's degree in social work from Fordham University in New York and, as of his induction, has recently accepted a position as the Statewide Faith-Based Initiative Coordinator for N.J., with the N.J. Division of Family Development.
