William H. Hollinger Hall of Fame
During his career at Hiram, John was a four-year letter winner for the Terriers baseball team from 1966-1969. A key member of Hiram's 1967 Ohio Athletic Conference Champions (15-2 overall), he also earned All OAC honors four times. A third baseman, in 1969 he singled four times in four at bats, scored four times and drove in two runs in Hiram's 21-0 victory over Kenyon College. He led the squad in runs scored that season with 18. John also led the Terriers in runs scored as a freshman and sophomore.
Off the field, John was a member of Chi Sigma Phi, Kappa Delta Pi and the Ohio Student Education Association- a vocation he has practiced for the last 30 years. Beginning as an elementary teacher in 1969, John moved to middle school education in 1978 and on to high school·administrator from 1987-1993. As of his induction, John served as a high school guidance counselor, a position he has held since 1993.
He is past president of the Mohawk Valley Counseling Association and the Clinton, NY ABC program; is a past member of the Board of Governors NY Association for Counseling and, as of his induction, the treasurer for the Utica Curling Club. As of his induction, John, wife Kathryn Badgett Davis, also Hiram class of 1969 and their two children lived in Clinton, NY.
