A slugger at the plate, and an outstanding fielder at her first base position, Chastine (Romanello) Swoboda put her name in the record books and was a major contributor on the 2009 team that won the NCAC Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
A four-time varsity letter winner, she was also a four-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection, winning 1st Team honors in 2008, 2nd Team honors in 2007 and 2009, and Honorable Mention in 2006. In addition, she was named to the All-Mideast Region Team in 2008. During the 2007 season, she won the NCAC Player of the Week Award for her performance both at the plate and in the field.
An outstanding hitter throughout her four-year career, Chastine ranks 1st all-time in career RBIs (129); 2nd in Home Runs (16), Total Bases (265), and Slugging Percentage (.553); 4th in Games Played (154); and 5th in At-bats (479), Hits (165), Doubles (36), and Triples (8).
From her first base position, she led the team in putouts all four years and ranks 1st all-time in career putouts with 1,242. She also ranks 3rd all-time with a Fielding Percentage of .988.
After graduation, Chastine returned to her native Arizona and worked for nine years at a behavioral health clinic for children and adolescents. Currently, she is a Manager in the State of Arizona’s Department of Comprehensive Child Safety Health Plan. Her team provides health care coordination to meet the needs of children in the child welfare system.
