William H. Hollinger Hall of Fame
Voted Most Valuable Player during his senior year of football, Hank Schaffer was a four-season athlete on the field and a two-year letter winner on the basketball court for Hiram. Recipient of the Frank L. Coombs trophy during his senior year, he was active in both organized sports and the college's intramural program.
Prior to his collegiate career, Hank spent three years in the United States Navy, after having been nam~d an All-City and All-Mahoning County tackle by the Youngstown Vindicator in 1943.
Since his graduation from Hiram, Hank had been manager of industrial relations for the Bessemer Cement Co. in Bessemer, Pennsylvania, and as of his induction, a Cadillac Sales consultant at Clyde Cole Motor Company in Warren, Ohio.
