Following graduation, Wands starred for the Lakerettes, a travelling softball team out of Conneaut Lake, PA and was selected to the 1996 All-American Women's Slow Pitch Open Majors Softball team. She was also named Portage County League Volleyball Coach of the Year four times in 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1997 while serving as the head coach of the Crestwood High School varsity team.
