Peter “Pete” Brann spent 35 years in the Hiram College community and athletic department as an administrator and a head coach of several sports. He coached wrestling for 17 seasons (1970-87), men’s soccer for 15 seasons (1970- 85), women’s soccer for one season (1996), men’s tennis for 35 seasons (1970-2005) and women’s tennis for 20 seasons (1985-2005).
In wrestling, Pete coached more than 100 NCAA national qualifiers, 15 All-Americans, and one Olympic qualifier who won a bronze medalist at the Pan American Games. Pete also had great success as a men’s and women’s tennis coach. In 35 seasons he coached numerous individual conference champions and led his teams to three championships in the Ohio Athletic Conference – the men winning the OAC in 1993 and the women in 1990 and 1993. Pete served on the executive boards of the NCAA Wrestling Coaches Association and the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association.
In addition, he served as chairman of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference and OAC coaches associations on numerous occasions.
Since his retirement from coaching in 2005, Pete has pursued his interest in real estate investment. As of his induction, Brann managed a vacation and residential property in New York. Pete is also a member of the MacMurray (Illinois) College Athletic Hall of Fame.
