Jim Bodmer was an accomplished two-sport athlete in soccer (1969-72) and swimming (1969-73) as a student-athlete at Hiram. Bodmer played four seasons of both soccer and swimming and was a team captain during the 1972 season for soccer and on two occasions in swimming (1972-73).
As a soccer player, he was a first-team All-Conference award winner following the conclusion of his senior year and was tabbed the “Most Valuable Player” that same season. In swimming, Bodmer was a two-time “Most Valuable Swimmer” as a junior and senior. By the time he graduated, he held several school records including: the 200-yard individual medley, the 1650-yard freestyle, 1000-yard free, 500-yard free, 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and was a member of a record-setting medley relay team. He also held one pool record in the 1000-yard free which came while competing on the campus of Baldwin Wallace University.
While he wasn’t competing in soccer or swimming, Bodmer was a four-year member of the Phi Gamma Epsilon fraternity. After graduating from Hiram in 1973, Bodmer went on to graduate from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1977 and went on to complete his residency at Mesa General Hospital in Mesa, Arizona in 1997-78. As of his induction, Bodmer held his own private practice as a Podiatry, Foot and Ankle Surgeon in Arizona.
