HIRAM, Ohio - June 3, 2025 - Hiram College Baseball capped off their season with a quintet of award-winners on Tuesday afternoon, with Sam Boyle, Nicolas Chernitsky, Tyler Fernandez, Logan Gallentine and Jacob Koces each earning CSC Academic All-District honors, as announced by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).
To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. For baseball, CSC Academic All-District selections must also compete in 90 percent of the institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of the season's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or have pitched 35+ innings.
Boyle wrapped up his six-year career with 11 appearances (five starts) this season, which included the second-most strikeouts on the team (27). The Copley, OH native is also a two-time NCAC Academic Honor Role honoree.
Chernitsky continued his success on the mound in his second season, posting a team-high 39 strikeouts over 47 innings (10 appearances, nine starts). The Elyria, OH product also had a team-best four wins on the campaign, which included victorious efforts against Baruch, Saint Vincent, Ohio Wesleyan and Asbury.
Fernandez added to his collection of awards by earning the CSC Academic All-District honor; the junior had already claimed All-NCAC Third Team honors, as well as D3baseball.com First Team All-Region. Originally from Aurora, OH and a transfer from Saint Vincent College, Fernandez slashed .381/.440/.680 (1.120 OPS) with 11 doubles, three triples, nine home runs and 55 RBI this season.
Gallentine had an impactful junior season, ranking second on the team with 28 RBI while also flashing the leather throughout the spring at both shortstop and second base. The North Canton, OH native has increased his offensive production in each of his three seasons in the blue and red.
Koces was one of the team's 13 seniors this past season and an integral part of the starting rotation in each of the last three years. A Parma, OH native, Koces was also a two-time NCAC Academic Honor Role selection and ranks sixth in program history with just 2.68 career walks per nine innings.
Hiram Baseball found itself in contention for an NCAC Tournament appearance midway through the season, and featured a .500 record in home games. The Terriers have big expectations moving into 2026, when head coach Phil Brua and company will begin their first season in the Presidents' Athletic Conference dating back to 1989.
