HIRAM, Ohio - May 13, 2026 - Hiram's pitching staff was well-represented in the Presidents' Athletic Conference release of the 2026 All-PAC honors, as left-handed reliever Cody Horvath earned All-PAC Second Team and right-handed starter Nicolas Chernitsky earned All-PAC Honorable Mention.
The duo represents the first two student-athletes to earn all-conference honors since the program returned to full-time PAC competition this season for the first time since 1989. It's also the first time the Terriers have had multiple pitchers earn an all-conference award in a single season since 2017 (Hank Clegg, Brandon Chesmar).
Horvath was dominant out of the Hiram bullpen this spring, posting a team-best 1.73 ERA over 16 appearances (26 innings), striking out 28 batters during that span. Of the 27 hits Horvath allowed, only three were extra-base knocks. The senior southpaw from North Ridgeville, OH also earned victories against Haverford and Chatham over the course of the campaign.
Chernitsky anchored the starting rotation to land his first career all-conference selection, recording a 4.92 ERA over 64 innings of work (10 starts, two relief appearances). The junior from Elyria, OH punched out 69 batters this season, tied for the seventh-most strikeouts in a single season in program history. Chernitsky also was a workhorse, logging at least five innings of work in nine of his 10 starts.
The Terriers fell just one win short of earning their first conference tournament appearance since 2005, as a remarkable run throughout the second half of the season nearly made a memorable season even more special.
Hiram will have a chance to earn the right to play postseason baseball in 2027, when they get set for another season in the PAC.
