Jan.24-HIRAM, Ohio- Despite several first-place finishes, the Hiram College swimming and diving teams both fell short in their final home meet of the season on Thursday night.
In the tri-meet, the men's team faced Washington & Jefferson, whereas the women faced both Washington & Jefferson and Franciscan.
Freshman
Carlee Lisser was the top performer of the night, capturing a first-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle (2:25.46), 100-meter freestyle (1:08.24), and shaved seconds off her seed time in the 400-meter freestyle (5:02.93).
Junior
Jenna Nelson made her mark on the meet as well with a first-place time in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:24.90), and the 200-meter breaststroke (3:02.43).
Newcomer
Angie Ross made her Alumni Memorial pool debut with a victory in the 100-meter backstroke (1:17.98).
The women's team finished the day with a victory against the Presidents with a score of 101-88, and a loss against Franciscan by a final score of 137-87.
On the men's side, Bowling secured a win in the 100-meter breaststroke clocking in over five seconds faster than his competition (1:13.60). Bowling also added a runner-up performance in the 50-meter freestyle in 26.57.
The senior honoree Barber secured a victory in the 1500-meter freestyle in a time of 20:22.75.
Another noteworthy performance came from sophomore
Elijah Skaggs winning the 100-meter freestyle in 58.08.
Despite these strong performances, the men's team was defeated by a final score of 120-77.
The Terriers will next travel to Wittenberg on Saturday, January 26 to compete in their final conference meet before the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. The first event is scheduled for 1 p.m.
