Suso Homers Twice as Hiram Falls to Kenyon

HIRAM, Ohio - Despite tallying a season-high 13 runs, the Hiram College baseball team dropped a senior-day decision to Kenyon College on Sunday afternoon.

PJ Suso tied a Terrier single-game record as he left the yard twice in the game. Suso posted a solo home run in the third inning, before collecting a three-run homer in the sixth inning. He finished the day 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored.

Kenyon Came out of the gates strong, putting together eight runs through the first four innings of action.

Hiram got their first run on the board in the bottom of the first inning as Curtis Caithaml reached on a throwing error before being moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. He would then come into score on a RBI groundout by Will Howell.

In the third, the Terriers would add two more as Caithaml scored on a wild pitch before Suso uncorked his first homer of the afternoon.

After falling behind 8-3, the Terriers posted three more runs in the fifth. Both Vince Lonigro and Tyler Haas added RBIs in the frame, scoring Howell and Vince Suso. Caithaml also came in to score for the third time in the game to pull Hiram within two (8-6).

The Lords, who finished the afternoon with four home runs, received even more run support in the sixth and seventh innings, combining for 13 runs. After plating six in the sixth, Suso tallied his second homer of the day, making the score 14-9.

Kenyon would continue to blow the lead open, plating seven more in the seventh before Hiram tacked on three more. The Lords would then score the final three runs of the game, rounding out the scoring at 24-13.

Along with Suso's offensive day, Caithaml, Lonigro, and Kyle Watson all added multiple hits. Caithaml also added a RBI, as did Vince Suso, Howell, Lonigro and Haas.

Prior to the game, senior Tyler Carcioppolo and Watson were honored as part of the senior day festivities.

Hiram will be back in action on Wednesday, May 2, as the team travels to Delaware, Ohio to take on the Battling Bishops. The matchup is slated for a 12 p.m. start.
