HIRAM, Ohio -- The Hiram College baseball team dropped the final two games of a 4-game weekend series against Wooster on Sunday.
The Fighting Scots (18-8, 8-2 NCAC East) took Game 1 by a 12-3 score and capped off the 4-game weekend sweep with a 19-5 win in the second game.
In the first game, Wooster wasted no time scoring, plating four runs in the first. The Fighting Scots tacked on a run in the third to open a 5-0 lead.
The Terriers (6-24, 3-13 NCAC East) got two runs back in the fourth as senior Trevor Foster (Warren, Ohio/Champion) celebrated his Senior Day in style with a 2-run homer.
The Fighting Scots added two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to open a 8-2 edge.
Hiram got a run back in the bottom of the sixth as Foster laced a single to drive home sophomore Phil Ward (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield Heights).
Wooster closed out the scoring with four more runs in the seventh inning en route to the win.
Foster finished the game 2-for-3 with 3-RBI's and a run scored. Ward came around to score two times.
In the second game, Wooster scored twice in the top half of the first, only to see the Terriers respond with a run in the second inning on a RBI single by sophomore Brandon Kish (Poland, Ohio/Struthers).
The Fighting Scots would take control from there, scoring 16 unanswered runs.
Hiram scored twice in the eighth inning, on another RBI single from Kish and a wild pitch, and scored two more times in the ninth on a error by Wooster and a RBI single from freshman Justin Joyce (Fort Myers, Fla./Evangelical Christian).
Freshman Preston Patterson (Uniontown, Ohio/Lake) and Kish each collected two hits apiece.
The Terriers will now play next on Sunday, May 1 with a doubleheader at D'Youville (N.Y.), that is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
