WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Hiram College baseball team opened a weekend series with No. 12 Wooster by dropping both games of a doubleheader on Saturday.

The Terriers are now 7-20 overall and 3-9 in the NCAC, while the Fighting Scots are 22-5, 8-2.

Wooster took the first game 11-0 and won the nightcap 15-2.

In the second game, Wooster used a five run second frame to take a early lead. The Fighting Scots added another run in the third to open up a 6-0 lead.

The Terriers got a run back in the fifth, when senior Jeff Segal (West Bloomfield, Mich./North Farmington) hit into a fielders choice that scored senior Mark Leone (Boardman).

Hiram scored again in the seventh on a sac fly by freshman Phillip Ward (Garfield Heights) that scored senior Rob DeAmicis (Austintown/Fitch).

The Fighting Scots would blow the game open in the seventh, plating nine runs.

Senior J.T. Taylor (Niles/Niles McKinley) recorded a season-high six strikeouts in six innings of work.

Senior Jaren Bell (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton), DeAmicis and Segal each collected two hits to pace the Hiram offense.

In Game 1, the Fighting Scots took control right away scoring six runs in the first frame and never looked back.

Five different players recorded a hit in the contest for Hiram.

Senior Nate Weiss (Warren, Mich./University Liggett) fired a complete games and struck out six.

These two teams will face off again on Sunday, with another doubleheader that is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
