CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Hiram College baseball team fell 5-1 and 7-4 in the first two games of a four-game series against Allegheny (Pa.) on Saturday.

The Terriers are now 7-16 on the season and 3-5 in the NCAC East, while the Gators improve to 9-11, 3-3.

The games were played at League Park in Cleveland due to wet field conditions at Hiram.

In Game 1, the Terriers scored first in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI hit from junior Trevor Foster (Warren/Champion) that scored senior Jeff Segal (West Bloomfield, Mich./North Farmington).

But from there it was all Allegheny as the Gators scored single runs in the second, third and fifth and added two more runs in the fourth.

Senior Nate Weiss (Warren, Mich./University Liggett) fired a complete game, striking out four batters.

In the second game, the Gators scored a run in the second, but Hiram stormed back with a 4-run third frame to jump in front 4-1.

Allegheny would answer with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to know the game at 4-4. The Gators then took the lead in the sixth with a single run and added two more in the seventh to open up the 7-4 edge.

Senior Ron DeAmicis (Austintown/Fitch) and sophomore Tyler Walchanowicz (Garfield Heights) each collected two hits to pace the Terriers.

Senior J.T. Taylor (Niles/Niles McKinley) gave up seven runs in 6.1 innings of work. Freshman Tyler Carcioppolo (Seven Hills/Normady) and sophomore Clayton Torok (Kirtland) limited Allegheny to two hits over the final 2.2 innings of work.

These two teams will meet again on Sunday to close out the 4-game weekend set, with a doubleheader that is set to begin at noon.
