GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Hiram College baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Kenyon on Tuesday.

The Terriers are now 5-14 overall and 1-3 in the NCAC East, while the Lords improve to 13-7, 3-1.

In the first game, Kenyon jumped on the board with a pair of runs in the first inning and added three more in the third to take a 5-0 lead.

The Terriers would get on the board in the fifth. With two runners on, freshman Phil Ward struck out swinging. The catcher dropped the ball on the play and his throw to first was wild, allowing both senior Jaren Bell (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) and senior Jeff Segal (West Bloomfield, Mich./North Farmington) to score.

But Kenyon would tack on a run in the fifth and the sixth to walk away with the 7-2 victory.

Bell paced Hiram offensively going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

In Game 2, the Lords were victorious by a 11-1 score.

The Terriers would take a 1-0 first inning lead on a RBI single by Ward that scored Bell.

The Lords answered with three runs in the third inning and blew the game open with a nine-run fourth frame.

Bell paced the Hiram offense, going 3-for-3 with a run scored. He is hitting a team-best .462 on the season and also leads the team in hits (30) and runs (21).

The Terriers will play next on Friday and Saturday when they host Oberlin in a NCAC East matchup. First pitch of both doubleheaders is scheduled for noon.
