HIRAM, Ohio - May 21, 2026 - Hiram had four selections to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team on Thursday, giving the Terriers 11 all-region selections for the entire 2025-26 academic year in the Great Lakes Region.
Among those to earn the prestigious honor were Tucker Marmash (long jump) and Aidan Shiels (800 meters) on the men's side, as well as Karalyn Rutkowski (high jump) and Sam Volpe (discus) on the women's side. To qualify, a student-athlete must rank in the top-eight for their region at the conclusion of the outdoor season.
During the indoor season, Hiram had Shiels (800 meters), Rutkowski (high jump), Volpe (shot put) and the 4x400 meter relay team of Shiels, DeAco Curry, Kamran Walton and Nathan Feltner earn all-region honors.
Marmash ranked sixth in the Great Lakes Region for the long jump, posting a career-best mark of 7.20m at the Mount Union Classic on April 22. It marked the second straight year in which Hiram had an all-region selection in the outdoor long jump (Gavin Dunn).
Shiels completed the all-region sweep in the 800-meter run for both the indoor and outdoor seasons; his program-record time of 1:51.65 at the Mount Union Classic ranked first in the region and 42nd in all of Division III. As just a freshman who is just dipping his toes into the collegiate waters, Shiels figures to have a great shot at advancing to nationals in the coming years.
Rutkowski capped off her collegiate career ranking sixth in the region in the high jump with a career-best mark of 1.65m from the Sparky Adams Invitational on April 17. That mark was just one centimeter short of a Hiram program record that has stood since 1997 (Heidi Gerhardstein, 1.66m).
Volpe will enter her senior season in 2026-27 with program records in the shot put (12.87m), discus (43.02m) and hammer throw (44.89m) for the Hiram outdoor records list. Volpe's mark in the discus from April 22 (Mount Union Classic) finished the year as the sixth-best mark in the region, qualifying her for an all-region selection for the second time in her career.
The Terriers get the summer off before returning to campus in August, when the team will look to increase its number of all-region athletes and potentially send them to the NCAA National Championships.
