HIRAM, Ohio - June 23, 2026 - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) unveiled their list of Academic All-District® selections for cross country and track & field on Tuesday morning, which included Hiram's
Nathan Feltner,
Makyndree Smith,
Sam Volpe,
Karalyn Rutkowski and
Kylie Moser.
To qualify, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher at the conclusion of the season. They also must be ranked in the top-50 for their region (Great Lakes Region) in any individual event. Volpe, Moser and Rutkowski all are earning this particular award for a second straight season.
Feltner highlighted the men's team throughout the season, transitioning from the backfield on the football field to a featured sprinter on the track & field team. Feltner ranked ninth in the region in the outdoor 400-meter race, as he set the program record in that event multiple times this season (48.07). He also was part of the record-setting indoor relay teams in the 4x200 (1:34.32) and 4x400 (3:19.72) events, the latter of which broke the PAC Championship record by over three seconds.
Smith was a standout in her third season with the program, thriving in the classroom and achieving a top-50 regional mark in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles (1:10.03), outdoor 100-meter hurdles (15.55) and indoor 60-meter hurdles (9.65). Smith will be relied upon heavily as a leader for the team heading into her senior season in 2026-27.
Volpe adds to her collection of awards for the season, having previously been named the College's Charles A. Henry Award winner (scholar-athlete of the year from the junior class), while also landing three different All-PAC honors during the outdoor championships this past spring (shot put, hammer throw, discus). She currently holds four different program records: shot put (indoor and outdoor), hammer throw (outdoor) and discus (outdoor).
Rutkowski finishes her collegiate career with another prestigious honor, adding to her resume as a three-time all-conference winner and three-time all-region selection in the high jump. All of those honors were earned in just two seasons with the program. Her career-best mark of 1.65m is just one centimeter short of the all-time outdoor mark held by Heidi Gerhardstein (1.66m in 1997).
Moser ranked among the top-50 in the region in five different individual events between the indoor and outdoor seasons, including the indoor 800-meter race (2:23.02), indoor shot put (11.38m), outdoor 400-meter hurdles (1:10.41), javelin (36.05m) and heptathlon (3,923). Moser also was a key part of the 4x400-meter relay and distance medley relay teams throughout the season.
The Terriers will return to campus in August, looking to build upon the efforts of these five student-athletes and the rest of the Hiram College program under head coach
Dan Graber.
