HIRAM, Ohio – March 13, 2026 - Hiram Track & Field concluded their indoor season this past week, with multiple school records broken and many personal bests set. Multiple Terriers were honored by USTFCCCA this past week, with six student-athletes combining for seven all-region selections, as announced by the organization in a release on Thursday.
On the women's side, Karalyn Rutkowski and Sam Volpe were both honored, with Rutkowski earning an all-region selection in the high jump and Volpe earning a selection in the shot put. Rutkowski finished tied for 46th in the nation and tied for fifth in the region in high jump, clearing a personal best mark of 1.63m at the All-Ohio Championships earlier this season. The senior from Middlefield, OH will look to continue this success into the outdoor season, as the Terriers look to make their mark in the PAC.Â
Volpe earned an all-region selection in the shot put, as the outstanding indoor season had multiple impressive performances. Volpe also finished 46th in the nation and fifth in the region, throwing a school-record mark of 13.14m at the Polar Bear Final Qualifier at Ohio Northern University this past Saturday. This marks a first career all-region selection, as Volpe will look to carry the success of this indoor season into next season.Â
On the men's side, Aidan Shiels was honored as the only all-region freshman in the 800-meter race, as his outstanding runs continued to improve throughout the season. Shiels finished with a personal best and school record time of 1:53.40 in that event, posting the mark last Saturday in Massachusetts. The freshman from Mentor, OH finished sixth in the region with that time, and will look to continue his impressive freshman season with the transition to outdoor season.Â
Shiels was also honored along with the men's 4x400 meter relay team of DeAco Curry, Kamran Walton and Nathan Feltner. This group finished their season ranked sixth in the region in the 4x400 rankings, with their personal best time of 3:19.72 not only smashing the school record by over 10 seconds, but setting a new PAC record for that event, too. This group will look to continue their success and improve during the outdoor season.Â
