HIRAM, Ohio – February 10, 2026- Derek Chiang of Hiram men's volleyball has earned the PAC Offensive Player of the Week award. This marks the first PAC award for Chiang this season, as the All-AMCC 1st team selection from last season is already off to an outstanding start.
Chiang hit an impressive .509, averaging 4.13 kills per set, to help the Terriers to a 1-1 week. On Tuesday against Mount Union, the senior recorded 10 kills, seven digs, three total blocks (one solo, two assisted) and a service ace.
He followed that performance with a season-high 23 kills on just 32 swings with only three errors, hitting .625 in the four-set victory over Hilbert on Saturday. He added five digs, five total blocks (one solo, four assisted) and two service aces in the home win. Chiang currently ranks second in the PAC in hitting percentage at .417 on the season. Chiang also got most of his kills coming off of assists from his brother, Darren Chiang, who finished with a program-record 52 assists on Saturday.
Chiang finished the 2025 season with team-high 271 total kills, which included 17 games with 10+ kills. The Markham, Ontario (Canada) native has already gotten off to a fast start, and will look to improve on it for the rest of the season.
Chiang and the rest of the Terriers will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 18, when they open up the start of PAC play on the road at Geneva, with action starting at 7 p.m.
