ERIE, Pennsylvania - January 30, 2026 - Hiram succeeded in their Friday win against Hilbert College, winning in three sets to move to 1-1 on the young season. The victory marked the first of Kyle Martini's head coaching career, while also fueling Hiram to a strong start in the two-day AMCC/PAC Crossover event, which is hosted by Penn State Behrend. Â
The Terriers won the first set handily by a score of 25-15 and then won the second and third sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-23 respectively. It was a matchup that paired Hiram against a former conference teammate; the program was previously part of the AMCC from 2019 to 2024.
The team's overall hitting percentage improved drastically than the previous match, going from a .065 to a .358. The hitting was led by Cullen Sivak, who scored eight kills on a .294 hitting average. Other key offensive contributors included Kekoa Tani with three kills on a .429 average, Liam Dwyer with seven kills on a .636 average and Derek Chiang with seven kills on a .467 average.
Also, freshman Gavin Stewart and sophomore Harry Soriano made their season debuts in Erie, PA. Gavin had four kills as an outside hitter, while Harry had three digs on the defensive end.
The Terriers will next head back to Penn State Behrend to play Penn State Altoona at 2 p.m. and Penn State Behrend at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Erie, PA.Â
