ALLIANCE, Ohio - February 3, 2026 – The Terriers put up a competitive battle against the Purple Raiders on Tuesday evening, but ultimately fell in four sets at Timken Gymnasium.
Despite the outcome of the match, Hiram kept Mount Union on its toes, keeping the contest close despite dropping the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-14. The team roared back and took the third set, 25-20, capping the set off with a service ace from
Derek Chiang followed by a service error from the Purple Raiders. In the fourth set, Mount Union closed it out with a 25-17 win.Â
On both ends of the court,
Derek Chiang and
Liam Dwyer put together a strong performance and ended the night with a combined 16 kills and seven blocks.
Kekoa Tani also stepped up as the starting setter with a career-high 31 assists, while
Cullen Sivak had eight kills and nine digs.
Next up, Hiram will return home for a match against Hilbert on Saturday at 2 p.m.
