HIRAM, Ohio - May 29, 2025 - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) named five Hiram softball student-athletes to its Academic All-District Team, as announced in a release on Tuesday afternoon. That group of accomplished student-athletes included Fayth Kawamura, Hannah Marlow, Daynna Mekaru, Megan Moser and Haven Papineau.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. That student-athlete must also meet a minimum playing time requirement for the 2025 season to earn the honor.

Kawamura wrapped up her career with yet another award to her resume, having previously earned a pair of All-NCAC selections and the NCAC Gold Glove Award in 2025. Known for her stellar defense and savvy ability at the plate, Kawamura also served as a two-time team captain prior to graduating earlier this month.

Marlow made significant progress throughout her sophomore season, stepping into an everyday role at third base and ranking second on the team with seven doubles this past spring. She batted .273/.339/.374 (.713 OPS) over 38 games (36 starts) at the conclusion of the campaign.

Mekaru was one of Hiram's three All-NCAC selections, earning a spot on the All-NCAC Third Team. The sophomore from Kaneohe, HI is now a two-time all-conference selection, and now features a .322 career batting average over 71 games (67 starts).

Moser also took on an everyday role this season, patrolling left field and making the putout on all 43 chances she got throughout the year. The Kent, OH native had a memorable moment in the final stretch of the season, homering off nationally ranked Case Western Reserve on April 29.

Papineau, who also competes in women's swimming, took home her second CSC Academic All-District Team honor in 2024-25 alone. Her biggest performances of the season came at the plate, including four games with at least three hits against Heidelberg, Kenyon, Denison and Ohio Wesleyan.

Terriers softball has a lot to look forward to in 2026, when it will look to return to the NCAA Tournament and pursue a PAC title.
