HIRAM, Ohio – May 27, 2025 – Few players matched the power of Tyler Fernandez this season, as the junior from Aurora, OH broke out for one of the best slugging seasons in the history of the Terriers program
D3Baseball.com recognized those efforts on Tuesday morning.
Fernandez took home All-Region First Team honors for the first time in his career, as announced by the outlet. He was honored at the designated hitter position for Region 7, joining other student-athletes from programs like Case Western Reserve, Denison, Washington & Jefferson, Mount Union and Wittenberg.
Fernandez, who already earned a spot on the All-NCAC Third Team earlier this month, led the Hiram roster with 11 doubles (T-most), three triples, nine home runs, 55 RBI, 100 total bases, a .680 slugging percentage (2nd in NCAC) and a 1.120 OPS. Those 55 RBI also were tied for the second-most RBI in a single season in program history, trailing only Joe Lisko (56 RBI in 2000).
Fernandez notably became the first student-athlete in program history to hit for the cycle, doing so against a future PAC opponent in Thiel on March 27. The right-handed hitting Fernandez started and finished the season strong, too, recording multiple hits in four of his first five games and four of his last five contests.
Terriers baseball will take the summer off before returning to the diamond this fall, when it prepares for a 2026 season as a full-time member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
