Hiram Puts Finishing Touches On Special 2024-25 Season At NCAC Championships

Terriers Now Look Ahead To 2025-26, Return Of PAC Competition

GRANVILLE, Ohio - February 15, 2025 - Hiram swimming finished the NCAC Championships on a high note on Saturday, capping off a memorable season and the team's final push as a full-time competitor in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

The men's team finished in eighth place with 412.5 points, while the women's team placed eighth with 260 points.

The event also marked the last collegiate competition in the careers of seniors Landon Hughes, Dayne Sauter and Natalie Brown, a trio that has each impacted the program in a major way.

Men's Recap

Owen Pastorius returned to the pool in the one-mile swim, pacing his way to a time of 17:01.76 in the final. The junior placed 13th out of 24 student-athletes in the event's finals.

Jon Hybil followed his third-year teammate with a strong run in the 100-yard IM; Hybil placed fourth in the C-Final with a mark of 56.75. The time wasn't far off of Dayne Sauter's program record in the event (54.44 in 2024).

In the 200-yard backstroke, sophomore David Slovenkay earned his team five points with a C-Final time of 2:09.04. Dayne Sauter followed in the B-Final of the 100-yard freestyle, working his way to a 14th-place overall finish (47.55).

The 400-yard freestyle relay team was last in the pool for the men, with the group of Sauter, Slovenkay, Hybil and Pastorius placing eighth (3:12.94).

Women's Recap

Natalie Brown earned her team a valuable six points by swimming a 20:18.19 in the one-mile swim. The time was a big improvement from the senior's seed time, and beat out a pair of swimmers from Wittenberg and Ohio Wesleyan.

Madison Fleischer showed her potential on the sport's biggest stage in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 59.38 in prelims and 58.67 in the C-Final to wrap up a big first collegiate season in the individual events.

The final event of the season for the team came in the 400-yard freestyle, with Papineau, Fleischer, Grace Basham and Brown earning 50 points (4:07.06) for the team.

What's Next

Hiram will now turn its attention to 2025-26, where it will begin competition as a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference and look to build upon a two-year span that has seen both teams surge to some of their best success over the last decade.
