HIRAM, Ohio – October 18, 2025 – It was a grand opening to the 2025-26 campaign for the Hiram swimming teams, as the men beat Allegheny (144.5-58.5) and the women put up a strong fight against the Gators (178-36) in the season opener at Alumni Memorial Pool.
It marks the official start to the Terriers' return to the Presidents' Athletic Conference, where the swimming program consistently found success under head coach Bill Donaldson from the program's inception in 1959-60 to the end of his tenure in 1987-88.
Men's Recap
Owen Pastorius, who enters his senior season with big goals and a chance to earn all-conference honors, got things going with a first-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle (2:05.97). The Pittsburgh native then went on to win the 400-meter freestyle (4:32.63), as well as the 100-meter IM (1:10.20). It marks the second straight season in which Pastorius has won all his individual events to begin the season.
Another senior, Jon Hybil, found a similar level of success by winning both the 50-meter breaststroke (35.21) by nearly seven seconds, as well as the 100-meter breaststroke (1:15.53) by nearly six seconds.
Also finding the winner's circle was David Slovenkay in the 50-meter backstroke (31.76) and 100-meter backstroke (1:11.40).
