HIRAM, Ohio - November 14, 2024 - Hiram Athletics announced that Scott Pohlman will serve as the interim head softball coach for the 2025 season beginning this week.
Pohlman, who will continue his duties as Hiram's Director of Athletics, previously was the school's head softball coach from 2017 to 2022, a span that saw the program win an NCAC East Division title in 2021 and an NCAC Tournament title in 2022. Pohlman was the NCAC Coach of the Year in both of those seasons.
With Pohlman at the helm, the Terriers had 17 student-athletes earn All-NCAC honors and four student-athletes earn National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region honors.
Prior to Hiram, Pohlman spent six seasons, 2009-11 and 2013-16, as an assistant softball coach at Denison University. The Big Red posted a 124-77 record with Pohlman on their staff, which was highlighted by an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2008.
Pohlman takes over for Shannon Schaub, who spent one season with the program in 2024. Hiram is coming off a 25-win season that ended just one win short of a third straight NCAC Tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth.
