HIRAM, Ohio – May 2, 2026 – The Hiram softball team's PAC Tournament run came to an end with a tightly contested 2-1 loss against Bethany College on Saturday afternoon. The Terriers gave their best effort throughout the postseason, nearly advancing through the bottom bracket, but the timely hitting of the Bison proved to be the difference.
Hiram held onto a 1-0 advantage through the top of the fifth inning, but two runs by Bethany in the bottom of the inning remained unanswered the rest of the way.
In the fourth inning, Hannah Marlow doubled to right-center field before Daynna Mekaru moved her to third base. Marlow eventually scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch to break the scoring barrier.
Ari Torres, Kayla Prigge, and Lola Thomas each added a hit for the Terriers offense. Bethany made its move in the bottom of the fifth frame, as an RBI triple and sacrifice fly gave it a 2-1 advantage and eventually the low-scoring victory.
Yasmine Clark pitched an impressive game with 6.0 IP, 8 H, 2 R/ER, 0 BB, 1 SO. Clark ended her junior campaign with 46 strikeouts and only 21 walks over 139.2 innings (3.01 ERA).
The loss brings a record-setting season to a close for the Terriers, who extended a program record with their sixth straight season of earning a postseason berth. It also marks the end to the careers of Danielle Robles and Megan Moser, who each have been part of those seasons and were key members of a 2023 Terriers team that advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals and a 2024 team that came one win away from a third straight NCAC Tournament title.
Hiram will ramp up for the 2027 season, looking to continue its impact as a member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference under head coach Giselle Bahena.
