Hiram Baseball Announces 2022 Schedule

HIRAM, Ohio - February 15, 2022Hiram College baseball will look to improve off of their 11-win 2021 season when the team opens the season vs. Otterbein on Sunday, March 6 at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic. 
 
The Terriers enter their fourth season under the direction of Head Coach Phil Brua after going 11-29 in the 2021 season.

Brua will be joined in the dugout by Assistant Coaches Ryan Nordquist, Nick Worcester and Bob Merritt and. Merritt, the team's pitching coach, is back for his third year, while Worcester returns for his second. Nordquist joins the program for his first season in 2022.

Hiram opens its' 2022 season with eight games over seven days at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

After their season opener Sunday, the team will have an off day, followed by a doubleheader vs. Saint John's on Tuesday, March 9 with first pitch at 9 a.m. at Terry Park – Field 1.

The next day, Wednesday, March 10, Hiram plays Muskingum in a doubleheader starting at 9 a.m. at Terry Park – Field 1.

The Terriers' final doubleheader of the trip will be on Friday, March 11, when the team faces Haverford, with first pitch scheduled at 9 a.m.

Hiram closes out the trip vs. Otterbein on Saturday, March 12 at the Lee County Player Development Complex – Field 5, beginning at 9 a.m.

On Wednesday, March 16, Hiram plays its first true road game of the season, traveling to Thiel for a 2 p.m. game in Greenville, Pa.

The following day, Thursday, March 17, the Terriers have their home opener at Fishel Field at Proverbs Park, hosting Pitt. Greensburg at 3 p.m.

After a breather the next day, the team returns to the road, playing a two games against Baldwin Wallace and Defiance on Saturday, March 19 starting at 10 a.m. in Berea, Ohio.

Closing out the week, the Terriers remain on the road in Berea on Sunday, March 20, playing Pitt. Bradford with a start time to be announced.

Continuing non-conference play, Hiram and Penn State Behrend meet on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m. The Terriers stay on the road for their next three games, starting with a trip to Mount Union on Sunday, March 27, with first pitch at 1 p.m.

After a day off, Hiram stays in Ohio, traveling to Muskingum on Tuesday, March 29 with a game at 2 p.m. Closing out the three-game road trip, the Terriers head to Pennsylvania for a matchup at Pitt. Greensburg on Thursday, March 31 at 3 pm.

Starting North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) are a plethora of home games beginning Saturday, April 2 with a doubleheader vs. Kenyon at noon. Then, on Wednesday, April 6, the Terriers welcome Wooster for a doubleheader beginning at noon.

Next up, Muskingum makes the return trip to Hiram as the two teams meet for a midweek non-conference matchup on Thursday, April 7 at 2 p.m.

On Saturday, April 9, the Terriers take on Wittenberg in a doubleheader starting at noon at Fishel Field.

The final game of the homestand takes place at Fishel Field at Proverbs Park before the team hits the road, as Westminster (Pa.) comes into town to play on Monday, April 11 at 4 p.m.

Hiram kicks off the road trip with a visit to Bluffton on Tuesday, April 12 with a first pitch at 4:15.

Hiram next plays six consecutive road, conference games, starting with a doubleheader at Denison on Saturday, April 16.

Following their doubleheader at Denison, the Terriers head to Meadville, Pa. to take on Allegheny in amidweek doubleheader starting at noon.

Hiram makes its lone trip to Indiana on Saturday, April 23 when the Terriers take on DePauw in a doubleheader, with first pitch at noon.

The Terriers then kick off a home-and-home series on Tuesday, April 26, when the team travels to John Carroll. The next day, the Blue Streaks make the return trip to Hiram.

Hiram wraps up its home conference slate with a doubleheader against the Little Giants of Wabash. The two teams will meet at Fishel Field at Proverbs Park on Saturday, April 30 beginning at noon.
The Terriers final home game of the season takes place on Sunday, May 1, with Hiram battling the Purple Raiders of Mount Union at 1 p.m.

Hiram finishes out the regular season with two road doubleheaders, beginning on Wednesday, May 4 vs. Ohio Wesleyan at noon. The Terriers then finish off the regular season at Oberlin on Saturday, May 7 with a first pitch at noon.

Should the Terriers reach it, the 2022 NCAC Baseball Tournament is tentatively scheduled for May 12-14 in Chillicothe, Ohio.
